Happy Two-Year Anniversary!

Has it really been that long? Yes! Two years ago today, July 31st, 2008, we got the team together and decided to make a cooking show! Suddenly, we've gone from making quesadillas and snickerdoodles to making potato salad and a quiche! What a change! Three more episodes will be put up today to celebrate the day history was made! Fun fact: when discussing what to name the show, we actually considered "Cooking for Dummies". We think that could have been even better, but there may have been some copyright infringement had we gone that direction. Anyways... HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Another Marathon!

Yes, we are officially back, with several new episodes live on Youtube in the next few minutes. We'll be caught up on episodes in a couple days (at episode 27), then episode 28 will fall on a very special day - indeed, the Cooking for Amateurs 2-Year Anniversary. And in attempts to move away from desserts, as hard as that may be, episodes 27 and 28 begin the trend with potato salad, then a delicious bacon quiche. Plans...

I'm going to skip the apologies (which you know I have) and get straight to our plans. We've been discussing the future of Cooking for Amateurs, and I think we've come to a good decision. Starting this summer (probably next week - school ends on Tuesday the 22nd), we will be releasing an episode of CFA every week. Saturdays will be for filming, Sundays will be for uploading. Then, starting in the fall, episodes will be uploaded one or two Sundays per month, depending on the work load at school. In the meantime, follow the blog and the Twitter (@cooking4amateur) for the latest info. And our other big announcement - we'll be cutting down the length of our show for a more accessible and entertaining viewing, probably down to 15 minutes. This means that you won't have to sit and watch us stirring something for 5 minutes, it will be cut down to the start of the stirring and the end of the stirring. We're also trying to branch out into some savory foods for amateurs, instead of all sweet. Keep an eye out for our return episode, coming probably next Sunday (or within a couple days after). HINT - it is a type of salad.

We are currently on the beginning of a three-day weekend, and then one more week of school, then spring break! Second, we have begun summer vacation, so we will now be posting these on a REGULAR BASIS! WOW! To kick off the break, we will be having a Cooking for Amateurs marathon for the next few days, beginning yesterday. One new episode every day! That brings me to our final news. Today IS Father's Day, so we are recording a brand new episode today to celebrate. That WILL be part of the marathon, released today as episode 17, then tomorrow will be 18, after that, 19, and then possibly 20 the next day. We are working through our backlog of unedited episodes. Also, the team will be on vacation for a few days in August, so there may not be an episode. We don't know. Thanks for supporting Cooking for Amateurs!

First App Review

In a desperate attempt to earn fans, I (Lucas - maybe my buddies) will begin filming app reviews for the iPod Touch. I'll upload the first one some time, and see if it gets any views. I'm definitely not short on apps to review - trust me. I've sunk way too much money into this thing. If I haven't reviewed an app that you're thinking about buying, throw us an email, which we check multiple times each day, and we'll get it up very quickly. That's right! We found an excellent FREE editing software in Pinnacle Videospin! I am now editing my way through episode 15, and that will be up in just a little while! Oh, and by the way, my AP exam is complete! No more big test to worry about. Yet. So I hope to have lots of time to edit down our videos from now on, especially during the summer.

Wooh! That was quite a break! And I bet you're wondering why. Well, with my new computer, our old editing software was a complete FAIL on Vista. So, a few days ago, we finally got some new software, and now we will continue to post episodes. HOWEVER. For those who don't know, I (Lucas) am in AP European History, famous in our school for being one of the hardest classes you will ever take. In the beginning of May, we have to take an AP exam, a fully standardized test spanning the whole year, including multiple choice and three essays. So, for the couple weeks leading up to that, I will be very secluded. So we will probably put up two, possibly three episodes, and then stop for a few weeks. But we will be back, with our new HD camera and software. Peace!

Hello again! For those who don't know, Cooking for Amateurs is signed up as an official "partner" of Earth Hour. This is an annual event in which millions of people around the world turn off their lights for one hour, at 8:30 PM TONIGHT! I believe that other electronics are fair game, but the only thing we might be using is our camera - to record something for the event. Play a board game, read a book, whatever! Just no lights, and try not to use any electronics. So help the Earth, and turn off your lights - 8:30 PM!

Yes, it is here! Cooking for Amateurs has just received a Flip Video camera in the mail. From what I've seen so far, this camera is way better than the old one. It holds the same amount of time, but I think it compresses each video a bit. And of course, the quality jumped from pixel-y junk to crystal clear high quality video. So look forward to this for the show two shows from now (we already have the next episode ready, but it hasn't gone up yet).

Today, I seem to be going on a filming rampage. I'm taping some reviews and tutorials for games and stuff, and they will be put up on Youtube regularly. I remade our Picross tutorial, and I feel that it made it way better. I'm also trying to cut them down to 10 minutes, one Youtube video. Also, something's up with our film editor, and so the CFA isn't up yet. We're working on it!

Hello! The CFA trailer was just released on Youtube (see post below), so search for Fuzzman1014, and watch it! E&N ditched me for the library, so we have to wait for them to return to film the next show. But we will film it today, and it will hopefully be up tonight. And the BIGGEST news - I now have a computer! It was just built two days ago, and it is great - it actually runs the latest games perfectly! So I made the new theme song - it's pretty much the same, but a little more funky, and it is in the trailer! And more good news - I figured out how to embed Youtube videos into our posts - so please tell us if this doesn't work.

Hey guys, since there won't be an episode this week, I thought I would start work on a "trailer" for Cooking for Amateurs. Sort of like a mashup of the best (and worst) of Cooking for Amateurs. LBP Review

Hey guys, I just posted the LBP review on Youtube, so go watch that! The servers went up, and we recorded, and now, a day late (sorry), we have it up! We had a bunch of fun trick-or-treating, and Eli got the most candy! Also, I read the recipe for our cooking show, and we actually had to chill something for 3 hours, and after 3 hours, it was too late. So, we're doing it immediately tomorrow morning, and the show will hopefully be up tomorrow by early afternoon.

Alright, today's the day before the launch of the first episode of CFAGR (CFA Game Reviews) and the 9th episode of CFA. Also, we will hopefully be starting a new blog thing - LBP levels. We'll be picking a new level (user levels, of course) every Sunday, Wednesday, and Friday, and posting about it. Finally, of course every Thursday, when the PlayStation Store updates, we'll post about that. This week, I believe the demos will be Mirror's Edge and EndWar, and I'll be posting about those IF THE STUPID PS STORE EVER UPDATES! It's already 6:00! Anyway, keep your eyes peeled for that.

Okay, so I have a few new updates. Hopefully, from now on, there will be one CFA AND one (newly titled) CFA Game Review (I think I'll call it the CFAGR) each week. This will probably be too much, and so the reviews will be probably only once every two weeks. But we'll try! This week, CFA is a Halloween sweet and the LBP review, which is now complete, WILL be posted on Friday! One last note, both CFA, the CFA Game Review, and any other shows we ever make, will be about a half hour long. Finally, CFA will continue to be posted on Sunday (possibly Monday), and the CFAGR will be posted probably every Friday (possibly Saturday).

Fallout 3 and CFA Hint

I got Fallout 3! Obviously, skip to the next paragraph if you cannot play mature games. It's crazy! I haven't been able to play that much, because, if you watch CFA, I have two small brothers who cannot play these kind of games. But it is awesome, and so far, it is a must own, but I will post again tomorrow with a little more detail. Perhaps, there will be a review of it on Youtube, but I don't know, because I'm the only one that can do it. So, it might be a solo review, and thus, sorta boring :)

Now, for the family friendly section! Very shortly, Cooking for Amateurs Episode 9 will be up Friday (hopefully) along with the LBP review. One more hint as to the identity of the recipe on CFA, it will be sweet! That's right, a dessert! So plan your meals accordingly.

Taking another break from cooking for some video games... LittleBigPlanet is AWESOME! I got it about 6 hours ago, and guess what I've been doing since? That's right, I've been doing homework! Ha! No, I did that before I got it (all 10 hours of it). But, it's awesome. I'm playing co-op with my great little sous chef, Eli. We're even going to work on a custom CFA level, which will be released some time in the first quarter of never. Seriously, we really stink at making levels. And so how is making nonsense levels so fun? I dunno, it just is. But it's gonna get even better tomorrow, when it's officially released (I got the game a day before the "official" release, when they'll be opening the LBP servers user level downloads), and I can download the levels that other people make that are actually good! Maybe I'll hire someone to make a level for us. Oh well. Anyway, if you own a PS3, it's a must-buy, so go get it NOW! And on a short note of cooking, the next episode may be up Wednesday or Thursday (maybe Friday because it's Halloween), and the recipe will be Halloween related, so be watching. I also *might* record a LBP review for Youtube, but definitely not until the user levels start popping up, so watch for that too.

Okay, for those who don't know, the Cooking for Amateurs crew loves food, but also video games. Actually, hopefully in about 20 minutes, I will have LittleBigPlanet for the PS3 IN MY HANDS! Now, the subject of this post is Proposition Pluto, the project of (I'm assuming) some guys at Media Molecule, the makers of LBP.
